All ages will enjoy fun in the sun at this interactive outdoor aquatic facility featuring a 27-foot double-loop waterslide, Jr. Olympic lap pool, two 1-meter diving boards, in-water playground, and a spraying water mushroom.

200-acre recreational complex includes an aquatic facility, 2-mile walking/bike trail, children’s playgrounds, 2 picnic shelters, meeting room w/kitchen, baseball, soccer & softball complexes, lighted basketball, sand volleyball & tennis courts, 18-hole disc golf, lighted softball batting cages, pang-pong courts, horseshoe pits and skateboard park.

Cycling enthusiasts will enjoy spectacular scenery found along the backroads and byways adorned with rolling bluegrass farmlands, sprawling horse farms, and pastoral countryside dotted with a wealth of historical and cultural legacy. A rewarding experience awaits the mountain biker or the road cyclists. Explore the diverse waterways that meander through the county’s beautiful landscape. The Kentucky, Dix, Chaplin and Salt Rivers provide excellent streams for fishing, canoeing, rafting or kayaking, while Herrington Lake boasts a 3600-acre playground for many outdoor and recreational sports. Forty miles of scenic trails present a broad range of distances and skill requirements for walkers, hikers, bikers, horseback riders and carriage drivers. The Preserve is a sanctuary for more than 130 species of local and migrating birds, and the forests and fields are filled with hundreds of wildflowers. The restoration of more than 1,200 acres of native prairies has enhanced wildlife habitats while returning the land to its natural beauty. The Stable provides horse enthusiasts the comforts of home – trailer parking, stall and paddock boarding, and more. Trail card included in village admission.  Additional fee(s) for equestrians.

One of the top pay lakes in the area that is stocked weekly with 500 lb. of Channel Cats and Flathead Cats.  Rod and reel rental and bait, as well as a large selection of fishing tackle to land the big ones. ADMISSION.

Herrington Lake/Mercer County

Herrington Lake, filled in the spring of 1925, was Kentucky’s first large-scale impoundment and boasts of producing some of the finest reservoir fishing the state has ever known. Great fishing is abundant and the well-stocked lake contains bluegill, catfish, crappie, hybrid striped bass, largemouth bass, spotted bass & white bass. The 3600 acre lake is the perfect playground for many outdoor and recreational sports.   Herrington Lake Conservation League, a volunteer organization, was formed to restore the natural beauty and to improve the environmental health of the lake.

Kentucky River/Mercer County

The Kentucky River forms the eastern boundary of Mercer County and the scenery located in this stretch of navigable waterway is admitted to be among the most picturesque in the nation. The most notable features are the massive palisades, the grand limestone cliffs that rise above the river. Kentucky River Boating Guide describes numerous historic sites identified by numbered signs placed along the banks.
